Profile Exchanges are collections of data with common themes, categories or interests, designed to help you find information on the Internet more quickly in an organized fashion.

Consider an Internet search. You input key words, phrases, product names, etc. into a search engine.

Then you must click on links the search engine has provided and do more research.

Profile Exchanges provide a organized method of finding related data and products.

Online Profile Exchanges are web pages with current information from the profile exchange with links to various companies and their products. Online product profiles include product URL, MFG, Date of price quote, Price, Place to Buy URL, and if applicable, a download page for software, and extended description.

Online Profile Exchanges can provide some very vital, abbreviated information, however, Product Scope 7 AND a data version of a Profile Exchange can provide more - up to 3 price quotes, product description in memo format, display product images, more links, and easy ways to view multiple products by category, make comparisons and more!

Web Updating - Profile Exchanges

With the release of Product Scope 7 - we are introducing a newer, easier to use Update method to receive the latest product information for a particular Profile Exchange - Web Updating. All of our profile exchanges have been updated to this new method!

To use this new Web Update method -

Step 1. - First, Download and Install Product Scope 7 (Includes Product Scope 7 Viewer)

Step 2. - Then, Download and Install a Web Updated Profile Exchange - Download Page

For example - Clarion Third Party - Web Update - this is an install program - instructions are included with each Web Update install, and we recommend you print these instructions.

Step 3. - To check for updates, at the Start Menu or Desktop Icon (install instructions will include specific Start Menu or Desktop icon selections), and NEW Updated data is automatically downloaded to your computer with JUST a few mouse clicks when a new updated data version is available!

	We have revised all our Profile Exchange install files to use LANSRAD's SetupCast automation to more quickly update the data (web update) versions of the Profile Exchanges.

Here are the instructions included in the install readme doc for the Clarion Third Party Profile Exchange - Web Update

Install Product Scope 7

Install Clarion Third Party Profile Exchange (clarion-third-party-pe.exe) (the program you are installing now)

You can install the data anywhere, it defaults to

Vista - C:\Users\Public\Documents\Profile Exchanges\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE\ OR

XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Profile Exchanges\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE\

however, you can install it to any writeable folder (of course, in Vista, do NOT install to the \Program Files\ area)

For example - install to

E:\data\c3p

This folder will contain the Web Update program and uninstall program

The install program creates a sub-folder named Clarion Third Party PE.

E:\data\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE

This contains the actual Clarion Third Party Profile Exchange data

HINT: If installing multiple profile exchanges - do NOT use the same common install folder. For example, for Home Theater, use E:\data\ht

Start up Product Scope 7, select an existing valid data folder (Product Scope 7 - Example Data), click on the Select Data Folder button, click on the exit, click yes, then this window will appear.

At the Product Scope 7 - Select - Create Data Folder window

Add an entry, in this example,

E:\data\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE

and the Data Folder description you desire. Then click on the Select Data Folder button.

OR if you chose the default in Vista -

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Profile Exchanges\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE\

OR if you chose the default in XP -

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Profile Exchanges\c3p\Clarion Third Party PE\

and the Data Folder description you desire.

You can now view the Clarion Third Party Profile Exchange using Product Scope 7.

To check for updates, at the Start Menu - Profile Exchanges, Check for Clarion Third Party Updates (also you can use the desktop icon that was installed - Check for Clarion Third Party Updates)
